A Vedic home in Kashi where the culture is learned by living it: through service, healing, Sattvic food and the land.
Concept preview · Opening soonA place to feel Kashi.
Kashi means light, and for thousands of years it has been the city where seekers come to learn. La Aranya is a Vedic home to stay in while you are here, designed so you can feel Kashi, and then learn from it the way the culture has always taught: through service, healing, food and the land.

Kashi began as a forest.
Before Kashi was a great city, the tradition says, it flourished as Anandavana, the Forest of Bliss. La Aranya, “the forest”, carries that memory forward: a living farm and a place of learning on the Ganga. Why La Aranya
Feel Kashi
Begin each day with the river, sacred sound and stillness, and let Kashi’s light settle into you.
Learn from Kashi
Vedic texts, living ritual and conversation, learned from people and practice, not only from books.
Live Kashi
Farm to table, in the Vedic way: tend the garden, care for the cows, eat what the land gave, and take its rhythm home.
Everything in one forest.
Eleven places to learn, serve, heal, eat and rest, set in one forest along the Ganga.
Jnana Mandap
A double-height, open-air library of local sandstone and timber, made for reading slowly.
Kamadhenu Seva Goshala
Gau Seva with indigenous Gir and Sahiwal cattle: feeding, grooming and quiet time beside the cows.
Sanjeevani Vatika
A living edible park where what is grown in the garden is what is cooked and served.
Anna Purna Shala
An organic, seasonal Sattvic menu that travels from the garden to the table.
Ayur-Shala
The Vedic spa: Ayurveda in the Kerala tradition, in forest treatment pavilions.
Vaidya Kund
A bathing pool blessed with Gangajal, infused each dawn with Tulsi, Neem and rose petals.
Prana Deck
An octagonal bamboo platform for sunrise pranayama and gentle yoga, open to the river.
Nada Kuti
A small open-air amphitheatre for live, unamplified acoustic music.
Akasha Courtyard
A wide open lawn under the night sky, with nothing built above it.
Aranya Kutir
Thirty independent earth-and-timber cottages, each sleeping a family of four with room to spare.
Nauka Ghat
La Aranya’s private jetty, and a traditional wooden boat to the ghats of Varanasi.
A forest on the Ganga.
Forest, healing, learning, community. Thirty cottages sit in the south-west and west. The library and the Vaidya Kund share the north-east, the Goshala and the Sanjeevani Vatika sit in the north, and the open Akasha Courtyard holds the centre, with the Ganga along the whole western edge.

Come as you are.
La Aranya follows the Vedic way of life without dogma or expectation. You do not need to know the Vedas or hold any particular belief.
Pilgrims, travellers, families, seekers and the simply curious are welcomed with equal warmth. It is a quiet place to come home to, and to meet yourself, while you discover one of the oldest living cities in the world.
